In January when I went thrifting with my parents, I found this old painting. It was only twenty dollars, it’s an actual painting, not a print, and for reasons I can’t explain, I really liked it. The painting is signed P. Rambert, which means nothing to me, but apparently people on Ebay think some of his paintings can fetch $50-550…mmhmmmmm.
I’ve been working on hanging up more art (again) and so I tried this one in the living room near the lamp. (I do think the matchy-matchy pillow looks a little ridiculous…an interior decorator I am not!) I didn’t plan to keep it there, but it’s grown on me and I’ve really liked having some color on the wall! (I think my desire for spring and something other than grey skies and a grey home is getting to me!)
Am I the only one who freezes and fears decorating decisions?
I think Presley also freezes and fears decorating decisions so she just sleeps on it 🙂
Me too! I freeze and fear decorating decisions. In fact, I’ve had a blank canvas hanging on the wall over the sofa for a while now. I’ll take it down to hang a fall wall hanging and then a Christmas wreath. But the rest of the year, it’s a 3′ x 4′ literally blank white canvas I bought from the craft store. The wall is white too so there’s nothing dynamic happening there, haha. I keep trying to picture what might look good in that spot. I think your painting is gorgeous and looks perfect in that space. The pillow is a great compliment too, and not matchy in my opinion, because of the bold zigzag design of it. Lovely!
Thanks, Julia! I have a 3×3 canvas that’s been sitting in my spare room–on the floor–since 2011. I keep thinking I’m going to be a painter or something 😉 I think spring is pushing me to be bold and to finally tackle my fear of hanging art!
I think I do the opposite. I just decorate with things that don’t go together at all! The result is a colorful, creative room… but completely incomparable to Martha Stewart.
HA! Martha Stewart rooms are overrated! I applaud that you decorate with what you love. 🙂
I just found a cool large print while thrifting but it’s just sitting on the floor. I also have a half-painted bathroom. Wow, I really need to start crossing some projects off my list…
I’ve got that crossing-off feeling right now! Spring is motivating me to get some stuff done–I hope the feeling lasts!
