I always thought those “100 Calorie Snacks” were new creations, and I guess they are new in their pre-packaged, highly marketed forms. But the church cookbook proves that someone’s been thinking of 100 calorie portions for awhile now. Crazy insane how many rutabagas you can eat for 100 calories.
I think you have now read it from cover to the end!
Always curious when something unknown appears…can you help me, what are Rutabagas? My oldest cookbook dates from august 1949, a gift from my mother and a clothbound hardback copy which I cherish.
Naoto didn’t know what a rutabaga was either š It is a root vegetable that is like a turnip. I’ve only eaten one once because my parents made me try everything. I don’t really remember what they taste like though. People use them in stews and casseroles.
Your cookbook sounds lovely. Do you still cook from it?
P.S. I got your latest postcard installment AND letter last week! I intend to write you during the LWA social this afternoon š
